Social Security Disability Benefits by Diagnosis

Social Security Benefits are granted only to those with a permanent full disability or expected death. The diagnoses below were listed in Social Security Disability Bulletins “12” and “112” for adult and child disabilities.

If you have a brain health diagnosis, the agency recommends you begin the process online at “www.socialsecurity.gov/applyfordisability.” The agency has a thorough case review process requiring information from your doctor, your state office, your medical records and state disability office. With your permission they may also contact other individuals who know you to question them. Expect your evaluation process to last from 3 to 5 months.

If you arrange an appointment at your local social security office, you may bring a friend or relative to translate for you.
