- Early Handling Exerts Anxiolytic Effects and Alters Brain Mitochondrial Dynamics in Adult High Anxiety Miceby Christina Thomou on May 18, 2024
Early handling (EH), the brief separation of pups from their mother during early life, has been shown to exert beneficial effects. However, the impact of EH in a high anxiety background as well as the role of brain mitochondria in shaping EH-driven responses remain elusive. Here, we used a high (HAB) vs. normal (NAB) anxiety-related behavior mouse model to study how EH affects pup and dam behavior in divergent anxiety backgrounds. We also investigated EH-induced effects at the protein and mRNA...
- The impact of high-fat diet consumption and inulin fiber supplementation on anxiety-related behaviors and liver oxidative status in female Wistar ratsby Lucas Gabriel Vieira on May 18, 2024
CONCLUSION: Our results show that consumption of a HFD induced obesity in female rats, similar to males. However, HFD consumption did not cause a consistent increase in anxiety-related behaviors in female Wistar rats. Treatment with inulin at the dosage used did not exert consistent changes on the behavior of the animals, but attenuated the abdominal WAT expansion and the hepatic redox imbalance elicited by high-fat diet-induced obesity.
- Sex Differences in Diagnosis and Treatment Timing of Comorbid Depression/Anxiety and Disease Subtypes in Patients With ADHD: A Database Studyby Uzma Siddiqui on May 17, 2024
CONCLUSIONS: Results suggest a more complex ADHD presentation in females, potentially causing late diagnosis and delayed treatment.
- A Contemporary Analysis of Mental Well-being Among Living Donor Kidney Applicantsby Swee-Ling Levea on May 17, 2024
CONCLUSIONS: The profile of living donor applicants has changed in recent years, with approximately 1 in 5 requiring antidepressants or anxiolytics. Predonation counseling and postdonation monitoring are imperative to decrease adverse psychological outcomes for living donors.
