“Internet Addiction Disorder” (IAD) refers to a compulsive and excessive use of the internet, characterized by a preoccupation with online activities that significantly disrupts daily life, relationships, and responsibilities, often leading to negative consequences in various aspects of life, including withdrawal symptoms when access is limited; although not officially recognized as a distinct mental disorder in all diagnostic manuals, it is considered a potential behavioral addiction with symptoms similar to substance abuse disorders.
