Confusional arousals are a type of parasomnia that occur when someone partially wakes up from sleep and is confused or disoriented. They can include mumbling, vocalizations, and sometimes coherent speech.

Sex Ratio: M/F
Age Onset: Ages 2-5
Brain Area:  contradictory arousal of sleep
Symptoms: confusion, disorientation
Progression: unknown
Therapies: Cognitive behavior therapy
Medications: anti-anxiety medications
