Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive brain disease believed to be caused by repeated head injuries, like concussions, which leads to gradual damage to brain cells and can manifest in symptoms like memory problems, behavioral changes, impaired judgment, and cognitive decline; it can only be definitively diagnosed through a brain autopsy after death.
