- Exponential decline, ceiling effect, downregulation, and T-cell response in immunoglobulin G antibody levels after messenger RNA vaccine boosters: a case reportby Harukazu Hirano on December 21, 2024
CONCLUSIONS: Ceiling effect or downregulation of peak immunoglobulin G levels was clearly observed after messenger RNA booster vaccination. After peaking, the IgG level declined exponentially, and the rate of decay decreased with each subsequent booster. Although this was a single-case study, this data may provide a generalized mathematical decay model for humoral immunity in healthy older adults. Moreover, our study provides insights into the immunogenicity after booster vaccination with...
- Brain volumes, cognitive, and adaptive skills in school-age children with Down syndromeby Rebecca Grzadzinski on December 20, 2024
CONCLUSIONS: Despite children with DS exhibiting lower cognitive skills and smaller brain volume overall than children with ASD, their deficits in Socialization and Daily Living adaptive skills are comparable. Differences in lobar volumes (e.g., Right Frontal GM/WM, Left Frontal WM, and Left and Right Temporal WM) were observed above and beyond overall differences in total volume. The correlation between cerebellum volumes and Daily Living adaptive behaviors in the DS group provides a novel area...
- Burnout syndrome among general practitioners in the Czech Republic: a repeated survey studyby Ladislav Štěpánek on December 20, 2024
CONCLUSIONS: Between 2023 and 2024, the prevalence of burnout among GPs exhibited a modest decline. Nonetheless, it persists at almost 20%. Ensuring a sufficiently dense network of GPs, providing adequate resource allocation, and raising awareness of their importance are essential measures.
- Association between FTO gene polymorphism and obesity in down syndrome childrenby Shereen A Mourad on December 20, 2024
CONCLUSION: There is an association between FTO rs17817449 genetic variant and overweight/obesity among the studied DS groups. The FTO rs17817449 GT and TT genotypes, as well as TGs level, were identified as independent risk factors for predicting overweight and obesity in DS children.
